Recruiting Development Staff

In this week’s onPhilanthropy, FLiP’s parent site, Stephanie Hill Wilchfort, Director of Development at WNYC Radio, gives advice on recruiting development staff.  In one of her tips, she discusses training for new employees, prompting reader “JT” to leave the following comment:  “What sort of ‘basic’ training do you think should be available for any new development associate at an organization?”

So, we need your help! For those of you on the development side on philanthropy, how would you answer this question?  What do you wish you had learned in your early days on your job, and what training did you find particularly helpful?
