Before the week is over, I wanted to direct your attention to our sister site news.onphilanthropy.com, for their coverage of The Clinton Global Initiative conference. Tom Watson and Susan Carey Dempsey, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of onPhilanthropy.com have been providing daily, live blog posts of the events at the CGI conference.

More than 1000 international heavy hitters from the fields of business, politics, and non-profits have gathered in New York this week for the conference, which has generated over $2.5 billion in financial commitments. Under former President Bill Clinton’s leadership, CGI is a new model for extending leadership beyond the traditional foundation structure. In other words, they are blurring the government/for-profit/non-profit lines in order to influence world-wide change.

It is especially important that we FLiP’s understand the impact of this conference, as it is yet another sign of the ever changing world of philanthropy. Enjoy Tom and Susan’s take on the conference!
