Indiana University: Academic Programs

Please see the information below regarding the Center on Philanthropy’s academic programs:

Is Philanthropy in your future?

It may already be a part of your life.  Have you ever built houses with Habitat for Humanity? Given blood to the American Red Cross? Donated clothes to Goodwill?  Ever think doing “good work” would lead to a meaningful career?!

At the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, our “typical” student is anything but typical.  We’re looking for students who want to turn that good work into professional work in one of the economy’s fastest growing fields.

Our graduate degrees offer a unique blend of challenging liberal arts study and hands-on experience that prepare you for a successful career as a nonprofit manager, fundraiser, program director, community leader, or scholar.

Philanthropy…a foundation for your future.

The Center on Philanthropy, headquartered in the IU School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, is a leading academic center focused on philanthropy, nonprofit management, and fundraising.  We offer a Ph.D., master’s degrees, a distance learning option, and dual degrees combining philanthropic studies with nonprofit management, history, library science, nursing, and economics.

Ph.D. in Philanthropic Studies – Prepares researchers and scholars who will provide leadership in the profession of philanthropy, higher education, and nonprofit organizations.

Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies – Examines the world through “a philanthropic lens” and explores philanthropy’s role in shaping our public and private lives.

Executive Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies
– This alternative offers a flexible course schedule for the working professional.

Dual Degree option – Combine the Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies with the Master of Public Affairs in Nonprofit Management through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
