FLiP's first event - recap
Wow.
I wanted to post a quick message to thank those who came to our first event on Wednesday night! When we sat down to plan the happy hour, the FLiP editors set a goal to get 30 people to attend the event.
Our final count was 80 people.
To us, this says there is a real need in New York for a group like FLiP. In this city, there are literally thousands of people doing a very similar job, either raising or distributing money, but we never talk, we never share ideas, and we never (ever) meet each other. FLiP is trying to help change all that. We suspect the same is true all over the country – and all over the world. Is the same true in your city?
The mood was light and social, and the networking was easy and natural. Mantra (our new favorite bar) really stepped up and gave us the top floor as a private space, and in my mind it was perfect.
If you have any ideas for content or any additional services we can provide our community, write me at wschneider@changingourworld.com. We're thinking of inviting a guest speaker to our next event. We're thinking of hosting a panel discussion. We're thinking of opening chapters in other cities.
We're thinking of building a skyscraper, and on Wednesday night we all built the ground floor.
Thank you again for those who made it to the event, it was great meeting you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
