Nothing like hot summer commute to catch up on the Internet trends packaged in digestible neat PDFs. Pew Internet & American Life Project’s web site is a treasure trove of smart research and analysis - and unlike Wiki, these reports come with a methodology section. Web 2.0 Primer from Down Under. Whether you are afraid to ask what the heck 2.0 is or have more Facebook friends than were in attendance at your wedding reception, it’s worth tucking a copy of this Social Media white paper into your beach bag. And don’t miss the footnotes – lots of good resources there. From Advertising.com to Zappos.com. Start Up Review should be included on every business school’s curriculum. Excellent case studies about the well-known Internet darlings, how they came to be, and where they are headed. Guilty pleasures. Admit it, you have that one book that you thoroughly enjoyed but would not be caught dead reading in public. Same with the web sites and blogs. I can’t seem to break my GoFugYourself.com habit – snarky commentary about bad celebrity clothes, that’s hard to beat! And yet they serve a purpose - as I’ve said with the KittenWars.com site, sometimes great ideas come from the places you least expect.
